Matcha, Matcha, Matcha... You are so good to me! The top 10 benefits of matcha tea are why.

"When I need a little something special in my life... I grab a Matcha. A hot matcha is like a warm enveloping hug. The iced matcha is like that refreshing burst of "life" that comes at just the right time. Life is just better with a little matcha in it." - Rahvaunia

First, let me say that not ALL matcha is created equally. Yes, we hear that organic and clean items are better, but the grade is just as important when referring to matcha powder. The two most common categories are ceremonial grade and regular grade. (FYI: Regular grade matcha is sometimes referred to as a culinary grade.) The primary differences between the two grades are in the quality, flavor, and the intended use.

Ceremonial grade matcha is the highest quality available. It has a sweeter, more delicate flavor profile and a smoother texture. Regular-grade matcha is slightly bitter with a more robust flavor profile.

Ceremonial grade match is used in ceremonial tea rituals, and used by those who prefer a higher quality tea experience and taste. The regular (or culinary) grade is often used in cooking, baking, smoothies, or making matcha lattes. (For the record, I use ceremonial grade for my lattes. I will be posting my non-diary recipe soon.) Yeah, I know, I know. It's like using top-shelf or premium liquor in a mixed drink. It's best enjoyed un-cut to experience the taste of its higher quality. As for me, I like my mixed drinks (or lattes) to have the highest quality my budget can afford at that particular time. Before you judge me, let me explain why.

First and foremost, I usually make my matcha at home. Often I will enjoy the matcha without the added "latte" (adding dairy or non-dairy), but it's my matcha and I'll enjoy how I want to. (Sing that like the classic song "It's my party". Just cuz it's fun. lol)

It's so good for you, that I'm constantly offering it to others and encouraging them to meet me for a cup of matcha. By any means necessary... And what do I mean by that? (No one got hurt, trust me.) This is where I'll share a personal silly story with you. Like to hear it? Here it go...

STORY TIME: I was busy at my computer writing, and my guy was on his computer working next to me. I felt like I needed a quick matcha break. So I asked, "Hey babe, would you like a matcha latte? I'm going to make myself one to drink while I work. Should I make you one also?" He quickly replied, "No thank you, babe." Now ya girl drinks her matcha often and often alone, but sometimes I just don't want to "drink" alone. I also know the many benefits of the tea and I'm a "mama bear" about wanting everyone to be as healthy as they can be. (Starting with what you put into your body. I digress, let's get back to the story.) Instead of going the 'peer pressure' route that some will take, to get their friend/s to have a cocktail with them... I went the it's good for you route. (Yeah, I know, that doesn't work on MOST, trust me I know. I went the healthy way, in a roundabout way.) I told my boyfriend it would have him strong all night (holding my arm up like I'm flexing a muscle 💪🏽) He smiled and replied, "Well then in that case, make me one please." It took everything for me to hold my chuckle in. Now I know what you're wondering, would it keep him strong all night? Sort of. Maybe? Seriously though, matcha does provide several benefits that could contribute to that "strong all night" concept. (I promise the benefits are listed below) In actuality, I'm not completely being dishonest. 1000% yes... I want my guy to maintain great all-around health, and with the top 10 benefits of matcha tea, it's a win-win. I'm also guilty of wanting him to enjoy a matcha latte with me, and take a quick break from working such long hours. I mean, one of the benefits would definitely help with managing a heavy workload or long to-do list. All in all, I want him to reap ALL the benefits of drinking matcha. Even if the "strong all night" ends up being part placebo or the matcha in us both (wink wink).

LIFE HACK for Adults: Guys can be so easy (yes, women also). If you want to get the person you love to eat or take something healthy... Just tell them it will improve their sexual experience/health or help them lose weight fast. Try to keep the word healthy out, because many equate "healthy" to not being tasty, fun, or enjoyable. The food you eat really does have a lot to do with our sexual health, but that's another story for another time.

Why do I prefer the ceremonial grade matcha most? Because of the amazing top 10 benefits that ceremonial grade matcha tea provides. Let me get to listing them... I mean, that is why you are here, right?

Matcha brands I purchase, use, and enjoy!

Ippodo Tea Co - I've tried many of their matcha teas. Organic and non-organic. They have a variety of bodies (full, med, light, etc.), as well as seasonal matchas which have a huge fan base. You can sign up for their mailing list. This company has been around for decades. They stand behind their quality. I've enjoyed the 4 that I've tried, both hot and iced. Regular and as a latte. Looking forward to trying the upcoming seasonal one.

Sunlife Organics - They 100% stand behind the quality/authenticity of their ceremonial grade matcha. You may live near one of their juice bars or cafes in your area. I really enjoyed this matcha, though it is on the pricey side.

Jade Leaf - They take their quality, organic certification, and matcha seriously. I seriously enjoy this brand. They also offer culinary grade matcha, a pre-sweetened matcha latte powder, and starter kits for those looking for the proper tools and information for starting your new matcha journey. Their kits are competitively priced. With kits starting as low as $15. Check them out.

Kyoto Dew Matcha - They promote how clean their organic matcha is. I'm a fan of clean products without the radicals and fillers. This was tasty and enjoyed as an iced matcha latte.

Matcha Love - Their organic matcha green tea is easily found in many local markets. The quality may not be as high as some of the others, but it's tasty, organic, and easy on the wallet.

Aiya - Another brand that has decades of business behind its brand. It's tasty and definitely easy on the wallet. I buy this one often for my lattes. You can find this at most markets as well.

Chaism - They promote a clean pure organic matcha. This is the only brand that I've enjoyed only in a latte. My hot latte was nice and I will try it soon without the latte. The price is affordable, for a clean, organic, and first-harvest product.

Ujido - This is a Ceremonial BLEND Matcha. A mix of ceremonial and regular matcha. It gives you more matcha for your buck, for sure. It is very tasty as a latte and I've used this one in baking, smoothies, chia pudding, and overnight oats.
